What it looks like
The same off-white to gray crushed limestone as #57, in smaller pieces and with more fine dust mixed through it.
How big the pieces are
Most pieces are roughly pea to small-dime sized.
What it is like to walk or drive on
Much easier to walk on than #57 and firmer underfoot, because the smaller pieces and dust pack together.
What it is normally used for here
A top layer over a coarser base on driveways and RV pads, tidy paths and borders, and filling around pipe work.
How it handles water
Still drains well, though the extra fines slow water a little compared with #57.
When not to use it
Thin on its own under vehicles. It is normally the finish layer over something coarser rather than the whole build-up.
What it gets confused with
#57 limestone, and base materials such as paver base, which contain far more dust and are meant to compact hard.
How it changes over time
Packs into a firm crust. Over the years the fines work down into the layer below, so a top-up is normal rather than a sign something went wrong.
Sizes are approximate. Crushed stone and shell are screened rather than cut to size, so every load holds a range of pieces and some dust.

How much #89 Limestone do you need?
#89 is chosen where a finer surface is preferred. For heavier base and load-support work, #57 is usually the better choice. Match the stone size to the job.
As a general rule, one cubic yard covers about 100 square feet at 3 inches deep. Coverage changes with depth and material, so use the calculator for your numbers and we will confirm before delivery.
