- Raise or level a low-lying area of your yard
- Fill in a hole, trench, or old pool cavity
- Build up a base grade before laying sod, pavers, or a foundation
- Correct drainage issues by regrading a slope
What Is Topsoil?
Topsoil is the nutrient-rich upper layer of soil where most biological activity and organic matter are concentrated. Screened topsoil has been sifted to remove rocks, roots, and debris, leaving a smooth, workable material that spreads evenly and supports plant growth.
Topsoil is the right choice when you need to:
- Establish a new lawn or lay sod
- Fill in low spots in an already-established lawn
- Build up garden beds or planting areas
- Create a healthy foundation for grass, shrubs, or flowers to root into
